Bitcoin Blasts Past $80,000 for First Time Since Mid-May
Bitcoin's price has surged over 3% to touch $80,000, reaching its highest level in more than three months. The rally on August 25 saw Bitcoin briefly surpass the $80,000 threshold, a strong psychological and technical resistance level.
A decisive breakout above this range would trigger a chain reaction of forced liquidations, further pushing short-term bullish momentum. However, with overhead resistance at $88,000-$90,000, the 1.618 Fibonacci extension level, there is potential for Bitcoin to pull back before continuing its upward trend.
The market has been broadly optimistic about Bitcoin's outlook, with BitMEX exchange founder Arthur Hayes predicting a 'parabolic rally soon' that could see BTC prices surge to 'hundreds of thousands of dollars very quickly'. Standard Chartered also took a bullish stance in its latest report, stating that Bitcoin's recovery could accelerate after October 6.
