Bitcoin Braces for Inflation Data Bombshell as PPI and CPI Releases Loom
Crypto markets and Bitcoin are bracing for a week of high macroeconomic tension as two releases of inflation data in the United States could define BTC's behavior ahead of the FOMC meeting scheduled for September 15 and 16.
The release of PPI and CPI inflation data on Thursday and Friday, respectively, will likely have significant implications for interest rates. The Producer Price Index (PPI) for August is expected to show a monthly increase of 0.4% and an acceleration of annual inflation from 4.7% to 5.4%, while the Consumer Price Index (CPI) is projected at around 3.3%-3.4% annually.
A higher-than-expected reading in either indicator could pressure Bitcoin and push Treasury bond yields higher, while more moderate data would provide the conditions for a potential recovery. The accumulated hawkish scenario suggests that Bitcoin's price floor of $80,000 may be put to the test.
