Bitcoin Breaks $79,000 Barrier Amidst Surge in US Investor Demand

Bitcoin's price surge continues, breaking past $79,155 and reaching as high as $79,954 on Monday morning in New York. This marks a significant increase from its sluggish June and July performance when it traded mostly below $65,000.

The cryptocurrency's rise comes after U.S. investors reversed course last week, buying up shares in Bitcoin ETFs managed by companies like BlackRock, Fidelity, Grayscale, and Morgan Stanley. These funds received a total of $1.9 billion in new cash, their best week since October 2025.

Eric Balchunas, a Bloomberg Intelligence ETF analyst, attributed the surge to 'one of the benefits of a commodity in a constant state of supply shock.'
