Bitcoin Breaks Above $71K, Boosting Strategy Shares
Strategy Inc (MSTR) shares surged over 7% on Thursday after Bitcoin broke above $71,000. The White House cryptocurrency summit held on Wednesday, where President Donald Trump's administration discussed federal stablecoin regulation and a strategic national Bitcoin reserve.
The world's leading cryptocurrency touched $71,700, gaining 3.46% for the session, directly benefiting Strategy as its stock performance closely tracks Bitcoin's price movements. As the largest corporate Bitcoin holder globally, with over 840,447 BTC, rising valuations boost MSTR's overall net asset value and enhance its ability to tap capital markets for additional Bitcoin acquisitions.
Recent institutional investment in Strategy has been significant, with Sound Financial Strategies Group acquiring 51,323 shares valued at $1.69 million during Q2. This acquisition accounts for 1.1% of the firm's total portfolio, ranking as its 14th-largest investment. Binnacle Investments expanded its MSTR position by nearly 493% in Q2.
However, bearish sentiment exists, with Weiss Ratings downgrading MSTR to Sell in early August. Analysts maintain a Moderate Buy consensus rating, but some have reduced their price targets recently, including Cantor Fitzgerald and TD Cowen.
