Bitcoin Breaks Above Trendline as Bear Market Speculation Reignites
Bitcoin's recent price surge has sparked renewed speculation about whether the bear market is finally over. After climbing from the low-$60,000 range to above $80,000 and briefly reaching a three-month high above $81,000, BTC reclaimed its long-term trendline that had capped the market since late 2025.
The evidence for a bullish cycle is becoming more convincing, with institutional demand through spot ETFs strengthening and macro concerns over U.S. debt renewing interest in scarce assets. However, a major technical barrier remains around $81,000-$83,000, which could provide stronger confirmation of the market transition if broken.
Bitcoin's 50-week exponential moving average (EMA) was recently reclaimed for the first time since November 2025, suggesting that recent prices are stronger than the broader annual trend. The 50-week simple moving average (SMA), near $81,087, is also a key technical hurdle, with historical data indicating that reclaiming this level can distinguish a genuine bear-market exit from a temporary recovery.
