Bitcoin Breaks Away from Tech Stocks Amid Diverging Market Trends
The correlation between Bitcoin and software stocks has been weakening in recent weeks.
In May, the iShares Expanded Tech-Software Sector ETF (IGV) rose about 12%, while Bitcoin fell around 10% over the same period.
This divergence is significant because for most of the past five years, these two assets moved closely together, rising and falling in tandem with institutional investor flows.
A low correlation of 0.58 between Bitcoin and IGV suggests that the relationship has loosened, but still remains positive.
