Bitcoin Breaks Through Bear Market Ceiling
Bitcoin has broken through an important technical level that historically marked the end of bear markets. According to Galaxy Research, Bitcoin's current price above $82,000 represents a significant milestone in its price action. The firm notes that this level is crucial because it has served as the ceiling for four out of five completed bear markets, where reclaiming this line often indicated a market bottom.
The exception came during the 2021-2022 period when Bitcoin briefly reclaimed the level twice before falling to a new low. Galaxy's signal requires a weekly close above the 50-week moving average, which is currently around $81,800. While the current intraday high of $82,000 is above this line, it has not yet been confirmed by a weekly close.
Analysts are cautiously optimistic about this development, with Bitwise's research suggesting that reclaimed price levels combined with other metrics may indicate a new bull market cycle. However, CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost notes that Bitcoin's buyer base is still relatively small and may not be able to absorb sellers as prices continue to climb.
