Bitcoin Breakthrough Sends MARA Holdings Soaring
MARA Holdings stock surged 16% to $11.15 on Thursday as Bitcoin broke above the $72,000 threshold.
The move was fueled by a combination of factors, including President Donald Trump's call for swift passage of the Clarity Act and Standard Chartered's Geoffrey Kendrick predicting a price target of $100,000 before year-end.
MARA maintains a significant Bitcoin treasury of 35,577 BTC ($77,981.00), which serves as a leveraged play on cryptocurrency price movements.
However, the company's second-quarter financials revealed a net loss of $609.7 million, with digital asset fair value adjustments accounting for $343 million of that loss.
The company's CEO, Fred Thiel, has outlined plans to diversify operations into AI infrastructure and digital energy solutions, aiming to leverage its power capacity for enterprise-grade AI hosting operations.
