Bitcoin Bulls Emerge as Nearly 40% Price Surge Sparks Market Debate
Bitcoin's recent price surge has sparked debate over whether a new bull market has begun. The cryptocurrency rose nearly 40% from its lows in late June, reigniting discussions about its trajectory. Frontier-tech investor Didier and macro hedge fund portfolio manager Griffin Ardern shared their views on the matter.
Didier sees Bitcoin's break above its 200-day moving average as a significant technical signal. He notes that low market positioning and high short positions could support the current rally, indicating early stages of a new bull market.
However, Ardern takes a more cautious approach, suggesting that Bitcoin is still in the final stages of a prolonged bear cycle. He believes clearer signals from dollar liquidity, US fiscal policy, and Treasury bond markets are needed before a sustained bull market can be discussed.
