Bitcoin Bulls March Towards $80K Amid Rising Leverage Concerns

Bitcoin's recovery continues as it approaches the $80,000 price zone, up over 30% from its June lows. The Bitcoin funding rate remains positive at around 0.005-0.010%, indicating that long positions dominate derivatives trading. However, this positive funding is a double-edged sword: while it supports higher prices, it also increases the risk of liquidation-driven selling if the price weakens.

According to CoinGlass data, the open interest-weighted Bitcoin funding rate has remained above 0.010% for several readings in August. This marks a change from February to early May when funding was below zero for extended periods.

The -0.5 MVRV pricing band is currently at $73,880, with the mean MVRV band at $100,052 serving as the next level of resistance if Bitcoin breaks above it. The higher valuation bands are $126,223 and $152,394. Meanwhile, Bitcoin's realized price stands at $52,678, while the -1.0 MVRV band sits near $47,560.
