Bitcoin Capitulation Signals Flash as Accumulation Phase Nears
According to VanEck researchers, eight of twelve capitulation signals for Bitcoin are currently flashing, indicating that the market may be nearing or already in an accumulation phase.
The signals suggest that what appears to be a price capitulation has occurred and the market is transitioning from a bearish trend to a bullish one. This comes as Bitcoin remains range-bound between $58,000 and $66,500 since June, with prices hovering around $64,700 on Tuesday.
VanEck notes that previous bear markets for Bitcoin lasted an average of 12.7 months from peak to trough, which would put a potential transition to accumulation in September through November based on historical cycles.
However, VanEck warns against treating these signals as surefire short-term buy indicators, pointing out that similar periods have produced below-average returns. Instead, they expect a shallower trough this cycle due to factors such as spot bitcoin exchange-traded products and a larger institutional holder base.
