Bitcoin Cash Gains Traction as ZEC Surges to New Highs
Bitcoin Cash (BCH) has been gaining traction in recent times due to its focus on providing faster and cheaper transactions. As a hard fork of Bitcoin, BCH emerged in 2017 with an initial block size of 8MB, which allowed for more transactions per block compared to its parent cryptocurrency.
The increased transaction capacity and lower fees have made BCH an attractive option for users seeking to send and receive payments quickly and efficiently. BCH is supported by numerous exchanges and wallets, making it accessible for trading, payments, and as a hedge against inflation.
However, not everyone is optimistic about the future of BCH. Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, has expressed his views on the matter, stating that he is taking 'the opposite side' of Liron Shapira's call that AI could cut Bitcoin's price by 50% in two years.
In other crypto news, Zcash (ZEC) has reached an all-time high of over $1,200, driven by ETF inflows, record mining power, and macro demand for AI-resistant privacy primitives. The surge in ZEC prices has left some investors underwater, including Garrett Jin, who is reportedly $25.7 million in the red on his short position.
The US Department of Justice (DOJ) has also been cracking down on cryptocurrency-related crimes, with a recent guilty plea from a broker accused of laundering millions of dollars for drug trafficking using crypto.
