Bitcoin Chain Hard Fork Confirms New Mining Algorithm
A hard fork of the Bitcoin chain, BIP-110, has been confirmed to use BLAKE2b as its new Proof of Work (POW) algorithm. This means that mining will no longer be limited to specialized ASICs and can be done using ordinary CPUs or GPUs.
BLAKE2b is a cryptographic hash function designed for fast and secure data processing. Its adoption in the Bitcoin network is expected to increase decentralization and make it more accessible to individual miners.
