Bitcoin Circulating Supply Nears 20 Million
The total circulating supply of Bitcoin has reached approximately 20.07 million coins, leaving about 929,465 BTC yet to be mined under its 21 million cap.
This is due to the programmed halving events every four years, which slow down new coin issuance until it ends around 2140.
The gradual reduction means that the last bitcoins will be mined in small fractions, with a final total slightly under 21 million.
The next halving in 2028 will further reduce rewards, challenging miners to rely more on fees, price increases, or efficiency to sustain network security.
