Bitcoin.com Adds UAE's First Central Bank-Registered Stablecoin to Wallet
Bitcoin.com has expanded its services by integrating USDU, a US dollar-backed stablecoin registered with the Central Bank of the UAE, into its self-custodial web and mobile wallet. This move allows users to hold, send, and receive the Ethereum-based stablecoin through the wallet.
USDU is issued by Abu Dhabi-based Universal Digital and holds the distinction of being the first Foreign Payment Token registered under the UAE central bank's Payment Token Services Regulation. The company is also regulated by the Abu Dhabi Global Market's Financial Services Regulatory Authority to issue fiat-referenced tokens.
The integration will provide users with access to USDU beyond institutional channels, allowing for a broader distribution of the stablecoin. Swap and buy-and-sell functionality are expected to be added later through third-party providers.
