Bitcoin.com Integrates UAE-Registered Stablecoin into Wallet
Bitcoin.com has partnered with Universal Digital Intl Limited to integrate USDU, a UAE-registered stablecoin, into their wallet. This move aims to bring institutional-grade standards to millions of users who want to hold and transfer a stablecoin with verifiable backing.
USDU is issued by Universal under the regulation of the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) in the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM). Each USDU is backed 1:1 by liquid USD reserves held with regulated UAE banks, and its smart contract has been independently audited. The distribution is provided by Aquanow, a VARA-licensed virtual asset service provider.
The partnership will see USDU added as a supported asset in the self-custodial Bitcoin.com Wallet, enabling users to hold, send, and receive USDU with swap and buy/sell functionality to follow as third-party provider support becomes available. Payments using USDU will also be accepted for designated Bitcoin.com services.
Bitcoin.com CEO Corbin Fraser stated, 'Regulation has become the defining question for stablecoins. USDU's registration with the UAE central bank and its monthly attested 1:1 reserves are exactly the kind of transparency users and merchants can verify for themselves.'
