Bitcoin.com Integrates UAE-Registered Stablecoin USDU into its Wallet
Bitcoin.com and Universal Digital Intl Limited have partnered to integrate USDU, a UAE-registered stablecoin, into the Bitcoin.com Wallet. The move aims to provide users with access to institutional-grade standards in regulated stablecoins.
USDU is issued by Universal under the regulation of the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) in Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM). Each USDU token is backed 1:1 by liquid USD reserves held with regulated UAE banks and subject to monthly independent reserve attestations. The smart contract has been independently audited, and distribution is provided by Aquanow, a VARA-licensed virtual asset service provider.
Through the partnership, wallet integration will enable users to hold, send, and receive USDU, as well as swap and buy/sell functionality once third-party support becomes available. Bitcoin.com will also accept USDU as payment for designated services and work on enabling USDU payments between users and merchants where permitted by applicable law.
As part of the partnership, Bitcoin.com will publish educational materials about stablecoins and USDU across its channels, including in-wallet 'Learn-to-Earn' content. CEO Corbin Fraser stated that regulation has become a defining question for stablecoins and that USDU's registration with the UAE central bank provides transparency users and merchants can verify.
