Bitcoin Consolidation: Breaking $85K Resistance Could Unlock $100K Path
Bitcoin is currently consolidating near $80,000 after its recent rally to approximately $82,400 last week. This rally followed a decisive breakout above the $65,000-$65,050 resistance zone, helping BTC regain $70,000 before extending its advance above $80,000.
The current consolidation could develop into a bullish continuation pattern, but buyers still need to overcome significant resistance before the next major move can be confirmed. The key hurdle for BTC is the $85,000 resistance level, which, if broken, could open the path for a potential move toward $100,000.
Meanwhile, Bitcoin's on-chain activity has generated fresh attention after 600 BTC moved from addresses that had remained dormant for more than 16 years. The coins, currently worth roughly $48 million, were distributed across 12 addresses and originated from mining rewards associated with 12 Bitcoin blocks mined in March 2010.
Whale Alert traced all 12 rewards to Bitcoin blocks mined in March 2010, when each block paid a 50 BTC block subsidy. Researchers found no evidence linking the addresses to Satoshi Nakamoto, Bitcoin's pseudonymous creator.
