Bitcoin Countdown: BIP-110 Deadline Looms as Miners Signal Support
Bitcoin is nearing a critical deadline for BIP-110, a proposed temporary soft fork that would shrink block data. The current signaling period ends at block height 961,632, and nodes enforcing BIP-110 will reject blocks that do not signal support after this point.
As of August 7, only 48 out of 1,831 blocks were signaling in favor of BIP-110, a mere 2.62%. This is short of the required 55% threshold of 1,109 signaling blocks in a 2,016-block period.
Even if every one of the remaining 185 blocks signals in favor of BIP-110, the period would finish at around 11.56%, far from the target.
