Bitcoin Cycles Showing Signs of Maturity
Wintermute Trading has observed a significant shift in Bitcoin's market cycles. According to their analysis, Bitcoin's latest downturn appears less severe than previous bear markets.
In contrast to losses of above 75% at the same stage in 2018 and 2022, Bitcoin is currently only about 50% below its peak 340 days after the top. This difference is also visible in the time needed to recover, with previous cycles taking more than 500 days to return to levels seen around the current point.
Wintermute attributes this change to earlier participation from exchange-traded funds and institutional investors. They also note that improving market breadth, with profits from one group of investors moving into another, resembles the early stages of a new cycle.
