Bitcoin Defies Disruptions Near $65,000
Bitcoin's price has remained relatively stable near $64,500 in recent days, despite various factors that could have potentially disrupted its value. The cryptocurrency has absorbed the return of US spot Bitcoin ETF inflows, Strategy's sale of 1,638 BTC, the Coldcard seed-generation flaw, and weaker mining conditions without a decisive breakout.
According to data, Bitcoin recorded approximately $63,000 on August 1, $62,500 on August 3, $63,600 on August 4, and $64,000 on August 5 before moving towards $64,500 on August 6. This shows a recovery but not a sustained breakout.
Options markets also indicate that the market is calm, with Bitcoin's BVIV 30-day implied-volatility index falling to approximately 36% on August 4, its lowest reading since May 31. However, low implied volatility does not predict the direction of the next move.
