Bitcoin Defies Flash Crash, Sets Stage for Historic Short Squeeze
Bitcoin's price rose by over 25% this week, reaching its highest wick near $80k. However, it suddenly dropped more than 6%, marking a 'flash crash' in the crypto market. Within six minutes, $108 billion worth of shorts was liquidated, followed by $500 million in longs within 30 minutes.
According to data from SoSoValue, Bitcoin ETFs saw their highest inflows day on record this month, with $507 million in new investments. The largest Bitcoin ETF, IBIT, led the demand with $285 million worth of inflows, making it the most popular among investors.
The market is speculating that a historic short squeeze could be underway, but some analysts believe that the current situation is more likely a typical correction within an uptrend. History has shown that a short squeeze during a leveraged accumulation period can be a positive sign for Bitcoin's price.
