Bitcoin Defies Hack and Regulation Delay as Investors Flock to Spot ETFs
Bitcoin's price continued to rise on Friday, defying negative news from the week. Despite a massive exploit of the Coldcard wallets and a delay in the Clarity Act, investors are pouring money into spot Bitcoin ETFs. The Coldcard hack has seen an estimated $130 million+ stolen from users' wallets, with daily drains prompting some to migrate coins to other custody and CEX solutions. However, this hasn't deterred investors from buying shares in funds like BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust and Morgan Stanley's fund.
The inflows into these ETFs have been significant, with $763.6 million in fresh cash hitting the funds since the beginning of the week. Bloomberg Intelligence's senior ETF analyst Eric Balchunas said that the flows might not be related to the Coldcard hack, but it would make sense for investors to rotate into highly successful products.
Bitcoin's price has typically done well when investors have shown interest in these types of funds. The fact that investors are continuing to buy shares despite the negative news is a bullish sign for the cryptocurrency market.
