Bitcoin Defies Market Volatility with Record Trading Activity

Bitcoin continued to hold above $64,000 despite mixed signals from traditional markets. US stock indexes showed a split performance, with the Nasdaq down 0.4% and the S&P 500 gaining 0.2%, while the Dow rose 0.5%. Meanwhile, bond yields eased slightly, indicating that interest rates still play a significant role in investors' risk assessments for both stocks and crypto.

The price of Bitcoin remained relatively stable at $64,863, but trading activity surged, with its 24-hour volume reaching a record high of $25.75 billion. This represents an increase of 105.7% from the previous day's volume. Ethereum also saw significant gains, rising 1.8% to $1,946.

The CoinDesk Market Index edged up only 0.3%, but total crypto trading rose by a more substantial 78.4% to $66.75 billion. This 'big volume, small move' phenomenon often signals that buyers and sellers are actively matched, keeping the price pinned near where most of the trading occurred.
