Bitcoin Defies Weakening Market Trends
The cryptocurrency market is experiencing some unusual stability in the face of rising oil prices and increasing bond yields, which are usually bearish indicators for assets like Bitcoin.
Futures tied to WTI oil have reached $90 per barrel, a nearly 9% increase over the week, while longer-duration government bond yields across advanced economies continue to surge on fiscal concerns. The U.S. 10-year yield has jumped 10 basis points to 4.81%, its highest since 2023.
This has caused jitters in stock markets, with Wall Street's S&P 500 index falling for the third straight trading day and Asian stocks bleeding as oil prices pose macro risks to energy-importing nations. Gold has also taken a hit, dropping from $4,700 per ounce to $4,300.
However, Bitcoin remains resilient, holding steady between $76,000 and $80,000 despite the headwinds facing traditional assets. Some analysts interpret this as bullish for BTC, suggesting that rising bond yields may be a result of fiscal concerns rather than economic growth, thereby boosting demand for hard assets like Bitcoin.
