Bitcoin Demand Turns Negative as Price Falters Near $80,000
Bitcoin's demand has turned negative again, making it harder for buyers to absorb new supply. The price of Bitcoin is currently around $78,000 and may be vulnerable to further decline if fresh demand doesn't return soon.
CryptoQuant's 30-day demand indicator, which compares newly issued BTC with older supply returning to active circulation, has turned negative after briefly recovering in August. This means that active supply is increasing faster than new demand can absorb.
The average demand had remained negative through most of 2026, with June recording the highest contraction at around 270,000 BTC when Bitcoin traded near $58,000 to $65,000.
The price of Bitcoin recently failed to hold above its multi-month high near $82,000 and slipped toward $76,600 before stabilizing. This retreat occurred as apparent demand fell below zero, linking weaker momentum to weaker absorption.
