Bitcoin.de's Trading Standstill Enters Eighth Week Amid Rebuild Delays
Bitcoin.de has been in a trading standstill since June 12, 2026, when trading and deposits were suspended. The platform's operator, Bitcoin Group SE, is rebuilding the marketplace from a peer-to-peer model to a conventional order-book exchange. The rebuild includes a new website, trading apps for iOS and Android, and an expanded list of cryptocurrencies.
The company has stated that customer balances are held separately from company assets and audited annually. Withdrawals remain available under existing procedures, but trading and deposits are paused until further notice.
A status report on August 20 detailed the rebuild's progress, citing technical completion and successful testing. However, regulatory issues surrounding MiCAR licensing have delayed the launch, with no binding date given for its resumption.
