Bitcoin Developer Warns of Replay Attack Risk in BIP-110 Split
A prominent Bitcoin developer has issued a warning about a potential replay attack risk if the network undergoes a split related to the BIP-110 proposal.
According to Kevin Loaec, CEO of Wizardsardine and a Bitcoin developer, immediately after a fork, both the original Bitcoin chain and the forked chain would accept the same transaction signatures. This means a transaction signed on the forked chain could be replayed on the main Bitcoin network by a third party.
Loaec emphasized that ordinary investors who do not know how to safely split assets across the two chains should avoid any on-chain transactions during a fork period.
The BIP-110 proposal is aimed at restricting the inclusion of non-payment data in Bitcoin transactions, but it has only received around 2.6% miner support, far below the required 55% threshold.
