Sixteen Bitcoin developers have been working around the clock to identify security vulnerabilities in various projects. Using AI tools, they were able to find an astonishing 4,962 security vulnerabilities across 390 projects in just 24 hours.

The findings include a staggering 85 critical and 635 high-severity bugs, which are overwhelming project maintainers. The team, led by pseudonymous developer Calle, has been working tirelessly to flag these issues and help project owners address them.

Calle noted that the situation is 'extremely bad,' with many of the critical reports being quickly verified by project owners. However, the sheer volume of findings is causing problems for maintainers, who are struggling to keep up with the influx of reports.

One issue that has come to light is the difficulty in coordinating the distribution of these findings to the right maintainers. According to Rob Hamilton, building the automated setup used by the team, 'the hardest part is coordinating to get things to the right people.'
