Bitcoin Dominance Hits Five-Year High as MAG7 Group Commands 92% Market Share
The cryptocurrency market is witnessing a significant concentration of wealth in the top 100 assets excluding stablecoins, according to data from CryptoRank. The MAG7 group, consisting of seven major crypto assets, has seen its share rise to 92.1% as of September 10, 2026. This represents a significant increase compared to last year's 88.5%, and marks the highest level since 2021.
Bitcoin is playing a large part in this concentration, with its share reaching 66.6%. This is the highest level in five years, surpassing the previous peak of 56.7% in 2021. In comparison to last year's 61.7%, Bitcoin's dominance has increased by nearly 5 percentage points.
The data suggests that market growth is relying more heavily on a small number of large crypto assets rather than spreading across a wider altcoin base.
