Bitcoin Dominance Surges Past 58%, Institutional Flows Drive Trend
The cryptocurrency market has seen a significant shift in favor of Bitcoin, with its dominance surging past 58% according to CoinMarketCap data. This means that for every dollar invested across all cryptocurrencies, nearly 60 cents belongs to Bitcoin.
The total digital asset market is currently valued at $2.16 trillion, with Bitcoin accounting for over $1.2 trillion of that value. In comparison, the combined value of all other digital assets is approximately $936 billion.
This trend has been driven by institutional capital flooding into BTC over altcoins, with large allocators and pension funds viewing Bitcoin as a safe-haven asset due to its liquidity, regulatory clarity, and track record.
Some analysts are predicting that Bitcoin dominance could push towards 66-67% if sustained institutional flows continue at their current pace. However, historically periods of rising Bitcoin dominance have been the worst time to rotate into smaller tokens, as money is actively flowing in the opposite direction.
