Bitcoin Emerges from Financial Crisis
Bitcoin emerged in 2008 as a response to the global financial crisis that shook trust in traditional systems. Its creator, Satoshi Nakamoto, introduced a peer-to-peer (P2P) digital currency that could operate independently of banks and central authorities.
The Bitcoin Whitepaper proposed a system for electronic cash, allowing users to transfer value directly without relying on third parties. Satoshi also wrote the original code and participated in early discussions with developers and users through online forums and emails.
Bitcoin's design addressed limitations in existing financial systems by using a public, shared ledger that records transactions transparently and verifiably. This decentralized approach eliminates single points of failure but comes with trade-offs, including price volatility and a learning curve for users.
