Bitcoin ETF Demand Faces First Major Test in September

US spot Bitcoin ETFs experienced their largest daily outflow since July 31 on September 1, amounting to approximately $236.46M.

This wiped out the previous session's $216.70 million inflow and came just as BTC price briefly dipped below $77,000 after trading above $80,000 in late August.

August was the strongest month for Bitcoin ETFs in 2026, with $3.52Bn in net inflows, largely driven by BlackRock's IBIT, which saw a nine-day streak of inflows from August 17 to August 27.

The concentration of demand around BlackRock's product is notable, as the same fund drove most of August 31's $216.7M inflow and was responsible for the majority of the September 1 outflow at $201.2M.
