Bitcoin ETF Inflows Soar After Hack Forces Investors to Reconsider Security Risks

US-listed Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) saw their strongest weekly inflows since April, attracting over $850 million in new investments. This influx of capital comes on the heels of a hack that targeted Coldcard wallets made by Coinkite Inc., which resulted in an estimated $130 million worth of bitcoin being drained.

The hack has led some analysts to suggest that investors may be shifting their focus towards Wall Street's regulated crypto wrappers, such as ETFs. This is because these products offer a more appealing option for those who want to avoid the risks associated with holding and securing digital assets themselves.

Eric Balchunas, an analyst at Bloomberg Intelligence, stated that 'the Coldcard hack could make spot bitcoin ETFs a more appealing option for some investors, including even some long-time bitcoin holders.'

The demand for ETFs is notable because it has increased despite the fact that Bitcoin's price has been trading in a narrow range of $60,000 to $67,000 since June. This suggests that investors are migrating towards institutional wrappers where their cryptocurrency becomes captive and allocated supply.
