Bitcoin ETF Inflows Top $1B as Institutions Focus on Network Security
A nearly $1 billion influx of capital into Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) over seven consecutive trading sessions in July came to an abrupt end on July 23. The inflow streak, which began on July 14 and reached a peak of almost $226.8 million per day, was led by the iShares Bitcoin Trust, operated by BlackRock, which accounted for approximately 71% of the total.
The strong demand for regulated Bitcoin exposure is a testament to the growing institutional interest in the cryptocurrency market. The seven positive trading sessions recovered part of the losses incurred during the preceding drawdown, but did not erase them entirely. The reversal on July 23 was modest compared to the inflow total, yet it weakened the claim that a new sustained allocation cycle has already begun.
Separately, a group of nine firms, including BlackRock, Fidelity Digital Assets, and Coinbase, have come together to form the Bitcoin Security Consortium. The consortium aims to fund research and development in post-quantum cryptography, which is essential for protecting Bitcoin's long-term security from potential threats posed by large-scale quantum computers.
