Bitcoin ETF Investors Finally Show Signs of Fatigue
Investors in US-listed Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) finally showed signs of fatigue after a nine-day buying spree that absorbed $3.0442 billion. The streak ended with a loss of $201.9 million on Friday, August 28, as the price of Bitcoin fell by about 3.2% to $77,696.
The decline was concentrated in Bitcoin ETFs rather than across the entire US crypto ETF market. Despite this setback, Ethereum, XRP, and Solana funds continued to attract cash, with a combined net inflow of $145 million on Friday.
Friday's reversal does not necessarily indicate that investors are rotating out of Bitcoin into other assets. Fund-level data does not reveal the identities of individual buyers, so it is unclear whether investors are simply taking profits or switching to other cryptocurrencies.
