Bitcoin ETFs Attract Record Inflows as BTC Surges 25% in August
Bitcoin's August performance has been its strongest since November 2024, with a gain of about 25%. This surge in value was accompanied by a significant increase in Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs), which attracted $3.52 billion in net inflows, their highest monthly total this year. The funds recorded net inflows on 16 of 21 trading days in August, including nine consecutive sessions from August 17 to August 27.
The total net assets of the funds rose by about 31% to $99.61 billion at the end of August, up from $76.29 billion at the end of July. Monthly trading volume also climbed nearly 49% to $58.63 billion from $39.37 billion in July.
The strong performance of Bitcoin and its ETFs has cut year-to-date net outflows by 66%, from $5.29 billion to $1.77 billion. However, the funds started September with a reversal, recording $236.46 million in net outflows on Tuesday, after $216.70 million in net inflows recorded on Monday.
