Bitcoin ETFs Bleed $5.4 Billion in Worst Half-Year on Record
The US-listed spot Bitcoin ETF market has suffered its worst half-year on record. From January to June 2026, net outflows totaled $5.4 billion. This marks the first negative half-year since these products launched in January 2024.
The month of June was particularly rough, with roughly $4.5 billion exiting spot Bitcoin ETF products. It's also the largest monthly outflow ever recorded for this asset class.
BlackRock's IBIT led many of the outflow sessions, including a week in June where it alone saw $1.34 billion in redemptions. Grayscale's GBTC and Fidelity's FBTC also faced consistent redemptions throughout the period.
The selling pressure was broad rather than concentrated in any single product. The price of Bitcoin during this stretch traded in a range between roughly $60,000 and $65,000. Meanwhile, capital rotation into AI-related assets has been a consistent theme in 2026, with technology stocks tied to artificial intelligence infrastructure drawing significant institutional attention.
