Bitcoin ETFs Haemorrhage $5.4 Billion as AI Investing Frenzy Continues
The first half of 2026 has been unkind to US-listed spot Bitcoin ETFs, with net outflows totaling $5.4 billion in the first six months.
This marks the worst half-year on record for these products since they launched in January 2024.
The largest monthly outflow ever recorded was in June, when roughly $4.5 billion exited spot Bitcoin ETF products.
BlackRock's IBIT led many of the outflow sessions, with one week in June seeing a staggering $1.34 billion in redemptions.
In contrast, capital rotation into AI-related assets has been a consistent theme this year, with technology stocks tied to artificial intelligence infrastructure drawing significant institutional attention.
