Bitcoin ETFs hemorrhage $61M as Ether Funds Buck Trend with $7.4M Inflows
U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs experienced a significant outflow on August 12, with $61.10 million in net withdrawals recorded. Fidelity's FBTC was the main driver behind this trend, accounting for $46.82 million of the redemptions. This represents approximately 77% of the total amount pulled from U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs during the session.
However, not all crypto ETFs were affected equally. Spot Ether ETFs bucked the trend with a net inflow of $7.38 million, with all of this capital flowing into BlackRock's ETHA. This creates a stark contrast between the two asset classes, highlighting a renewed split in institutional demand.
The divergence in flows raises questions about whether investors are beginning to favor Ethereum exposure over Bitcoin. While it is possible that institutions are simply rebalancing their portfolios or responding to price movements, the continued stream of Bitcoin redemptions alongside Ethereum inflows suggests that some investors may be becoming more selective within the crypto market.
