Bitcoin ETFs have made significant strides in erasing their losses from earlier this year. According to data, as of September 8, US-listed Bitcoin ETFs are still $1 billion behind for the year due to redemptions and deposits since January. However, a recent influx of inflows has nearly bridged the gap, with net inflows reaching around $3.8 billion over a three-week period ending in early September.

The surge in inflows was particularly notable on September 3, when $730.9 million worth of investments flowed into the ETFs. The following week saw an additional $986.9 million brought in, helping to push the year-to-date numbers below the $1 billion mark. This reversal in fortunes follows a dismal August for the category, which saw net inflows reach $3.52 billion, the best month of the year.

The earlier losses were largely attributed to redemptions in June 2026, which totaled an estimated $4.5 billion. May also saw significant losses, contributing to the accumulated deficit that has only recently begun to be erased. Despite this, the overall picture for Bitcoin ETFs remains positive, with cumulative net inflows reaching around $55.6 billion since their launch on January 11, 2024.

The largest fund in the category is BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), which continues to be a mainstay of the group. Fidelity's Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC) has also been credited with spurring the current rally, while other notable names include ARK 21Shares and Bitwise products.
