US spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) saw a significant reversal on July 31, posting $265.4 million in net outflows after attracting $233.1 million just the day before.

The largest contributor to these outflows was Blackrock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), which led with $122.7 million in redemptions. Fidelity's FBTC followed closely, accounting for $54.8 million of the total.

This shift comes as spot ether ETFs bucked the trend, pulling in about $9 million on the same day. Blackrock's iShares Ethereum Trust (ETHA) led the charge with net inflows, extending a pattern of ether products outperforming their bitcoin counterparts.

The divergence is part of a broader rotation of institutional interest into altcoin-linked products, even as bitcoin funds wobbled. This trend has been tied to renewed institutional appetite for ether's role in tokenization and stablecoin settlement.
