Bitcoin Faces $65K Risk as Key Support Level Hangs in the Balance
Bitcoin's price stability is under scrutiny as analysts warn of a potential drop below $65K if the key $71K support level fails. According to Michaël van de Poppe, founder of MN Trading Capital, Bitcoin must stay above $71,000 to avoid a deeper sell-off. Van de Poppe stated that if this level doesn't hold, buyers can expect prices to dip below $65K.
Bitcoin's current price is around $73,873, according to CoinMarketCap. The cryptocurrency has recovered significantly from its yearly low of $60,000 in early February. However, analysts are concerned about the market structure, which differs from the earlier episode where range resistance failed to act as support.
Van de Poppe identified the $71K area as a crucial support level that must hold. If it does, he expects Bitcoin to push towards $76,600. Conversely, if this level breaks, new highs may be around the corner, and an 'Altcoin summer' could follow.
Some analysts are more cautious in their predictions. Veteran trader Peter Brandt projected that BTC could retest or trade slightly below its February low of $60,000 in September or October. Economist Timothy Peterson is more optimistic, stating that Bitcoin may move higher over the summer but peak by the last week of July.
