Bitcoin Faces Critical Resistance at $82,500
Bitcoin is facing significant resistance at $82,500, which could trigger a correction in the price. The cryptocurrency has rallied approximately 40% from its July low near $57,800, but technical indicators and derivatives-market data suggest that the rally may be overextended.
The largest downside risk appears around $68,000, where an estimated $2.9 billion in long positions could face liquidation. This is a major liquidity concentration on the bearish side of the market. In contrast, the primary upside liquidation zone for short sellers is located around $84,200-$84,215.
Bitcoin's daily Relative Strength Index has risen above 82, indicating overbought market conditions. If Bitcoin fails to clear the $82,500 resistance level, its 200-day exponential moving average near $72,000 could become the first major downside target.
