Bitcoin Faces Crucial $80K Test as Jackson Hole Summit Looms
Bitcoin's rally towards $80,000 has been driven by both new buyers and forced short squeezes, according to analysts. The level is seen as a key test of whether the move continues, with a near-term catalyst being this week's Jackson Hole symposium.
Nicolai Søndergaard, a senior research analyst at Nansen, said that Bitcoin has likely formed an important local bottom and that market structure had improved. However, he noted that onchain and market-structure signals were still mixed, with selling pressure having eased but weak U.S. spot demand remaining.
For the recovery to spread, Søndergaard said three things need to happen: steady positive ETF flows, a positive Coinbase premium, and spot-led volume. He warned that a second rejection at $80,000 would show that the move was increasingly driven by pressure.
