Bitcoin Faces Pressure Ahead of US CPI Data
Bitcoin (BTC) is trading at $63,736 after losing the $64,000 level on August 12, down 0.39% intraday.
Ahead of the US July Consumer Price Index (CPI) data release, market investors are showing a lack of confidence and growing bearish sentiment, putting pressure on Bitcoin to hold above the $60,000 level.
The theory is that a higher-than-expected CPI reading would indicate sticky or rising inflation, making the Federal Reserve more inclined to maintain high interest rates or even raise them.
This could drive up the US Dollar Index (DXY) and U.S. Treasury yields, leading traditional capital to flow from high-risk assets like cryptocurrencies into risk-free dollar fixed-income products, putting downward pressure on Bitcoin prices.
