Bitcoin Faces Triple Threat at $78,000 Amid Yen Weakness and Hawkish Rate Hike Expectations
Bitcoin's price remained near $78,000 as it faced a three-way macro test, influenced by the Japanese yen breaching 160 per dollar, a U.S. strike on Iran's Larak Island, and hawkish remarks from Warsh at Jackson Hole.
The yen's weakness, which has been a closely watched threshold, added to market uncertainty alongside the rate hike expectations lifted by Warsh's comments.
According to Scott Bessent, U.S. Treasury Secretary, recent moves in the Japanese yen have been contained and do not warrant a joint U.S.-Japan intervention like last month.
Bessent warned that a disorderly sharp decline in the yen could spread stress across global markets, not just Japan, and feed through to higher U.S. interest rates.
