Bitcoin Fails to Hold $80K as Risk Assets Diverge
Bitcoin's attempt to hold onto $80,000 in value was unsuccessful on Tuesday, with prices slipping below $78,111 on Bitstamp after reaching a high of $81,265. This comes as US equities steadied and the focus shifted back to macro catalysts.
Traders appeared unable to convert the $80,000 level into lasting support, while gold also turned lower after recent strength, with XAU/USD falling toward $4,605 per ounce, down nearly 2% on the day. The move suggests that broader risk momentum cooled rather than a bitcoin-specific issue.
The easing of bond yields was not enough to push rates lower due to inflation concerns. Market attention is now shifting towards US inflation data (PCE) and Nvidia earnings, which could swing risk assets again.
