Bitcoin Falters Amid Middle East Tensions and Rising Gold Prices
Bitcoin traded near $64,700 on Friday, experiencing little change over the past 24 hours. The broader CoinDesk 20 index dropped by 0.2% during this period.
The situation in the Middle East remains tense after Yemen's Iran-linked Houthis attacked Saudi Arabia. This escalation has pushed Brent crude prices above $83 per barrel.
Gold, however, maintained its recovery, rising 1.5% to $4,300 per ounce as investors sought safety amidst uncertainty. Treasury yields corrected slightly but remained at 4.67% for the 10-year note, a level that Fidelity's Director of Global Macro Jurrien Timmer described as historically associated with negative outcomes.
