Bitcoin Flirts with $80K as Overbought Risk Increases
Bitcoin's price on August 27, 2026, hovered around $79,960, narrowly missing the $80,000 milestone it broke earlier that week for the first time in three months.
The daily Relative Strength Index (RSI) reading of 81.71 indicated overbought territory, but the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) histogram remained positive at 1288.02, confirming upward momentum.
On the daily chart, the EMA20, EMA50, and EMA200 stack showed a bullish trend, with price above all three averages. However, the Bollinger Bands indicated that there was still room for price movement before reaching its statistical ceiling.
The 1H chart revealed a similar picture, with RSI14 at 68.15 and MACD histogram positive at 158.29, but momentum began to lose steam on the 15-minute chart, with RSI14 reading 63.61 and MACD histogram shrinking to 61.13.
The Fear & Greed Index read 71, indicating a greedy market sentiment, which aligned with the daily RSI reading and suggested that the market might be due for a pause or pullback.
